Continuum Makes Donation, Volunteers to Yellow Ribbon Girls

Posted August 30, 2016by Ben Barker

Recently, Continuum donated $1,000 in goods to the Yellow Ribbon Girls, an organization that distributes ribbons on a donation basis in order to purchase, package and send supplies to United States soldiers. In addition to the donation, a group of Continuum employees from the Pennsylvania office volunteered their time to package up boxes of food, gifts and home goods to be shipped overseas.

On August 16, Matt Mainhart, Russ Colwell, David Deckard, John Trinkley, Jeff Barnett, Tonya Barnett, James Hoehn and Justina Mikalik took advantage of the volunteer PTO hours that Continuum provides all employees. The Continuum team worked under the guidance of Bonnie and Patti Phillipi,  the Event Coordinators for the Yellow Ribbon Girls. As a part of the Continuum Veterans Foundation, Continuum donates a percentage of corporate profits to select nonprofit veteran organizations and employees spend a percentage of their time contributing to veterans initiatives.

Overall, the event was a success. Packing up each box with goods/food and getting them ready for shipping was easy and streamlined with everyone pulling together. Bonnie and Patti gave everyone a job, and everyone was on point in contributing. Continuum's employees left with spirits high after giving back to veterans and active duty military.

Check out the quotes below from the volunteers!

"Continuum is devoted to helping our veteran community, and this was one way for us to thank the soldier for fighting for our freedom. We hope that the packages will give them a little taste of home, and remind them that we are thinking about them and wish for them to remain safe while defending this great country."

- Matt Mainhart, Technical Sales Engineer

“It was great being able to give back to the troops. This was one way for me to show my appreciation for all that they do.”

John Trinkley, Senior Technical Sales Engineer

“I have several family, friends and co-workers who are serving or have served to protect our country. Being able to help support them and show gratitude was a great experience.  Yellow Ribbon Girls is an awesome community of individuals supporting our troops.  Kudos to Continuum for giving me the opportunity to share my day with them.”

David Deckard, Technical Sales Engineer

“I’m so grateful to Continuum for letting us be a part of the Yellow Ribbon Girls. It is such a great honor to help this organization. Truly makes me proud to be a part of Continuum and the Yellow Ribbon Girls.”

Tonya Barnett, Technical Success Manager
