We're very pleased to announce that the Continuum Veterans Foundation (CVF), founded in 2012 by Continuum® to help veterans find jobs in the IT industry, has appointed William McHale to its board of directors! Both his experience serving the United States military and leading companies in the high tech industry recommends him for this position, and we're thrilled to welcome him aboard!

McHale's Years of Service

Who better to understand the needs and economic challenges of the veterans CVF serves than a U.S. Navy veteran who fought to defend our nation's freedom during wartime? McHale attended the Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps (NROTC) at Villanova University and then served aboard the USS Vega (AF-59) as a communications officer off the coast of Vietnam. He subsequently served on Guam as the Officer-in-Charge of the Autodin Switching Center and was honorably discharged in November 1974.

His Civilian Career

After serving the United States military for three years, McHale went on to launch an impressive, four-decade career in the private sector, holding increasing levels of responsibility in sales, sales management and marketing roles at IBM, Wang Laboratories and Digital Equipment Corporation. In 1990, he began running software companies and led DSET Corporation as CEO through an IPO in 1998. He has been the CEO of two software companies in Europe and is currently devoting his efforts to work on board of director roles, helping CEOs and their management teams to deal with the various challenges of growth in their businesses. Previously, McHale served as Chairman of the board of trustees of St. John Paul Catholic Academy in Boston, a 1,200-student school with pre-K through 8th grades, and he currently sits as chairman of the board of directors at Masternaut, one of Europe's largest providers of telematics solutions.

We're honored McHale has chosen to join us in helping U.S. veterans find civilian jobs and expect even more advancement for our cause in the future.

~Michael George, Chairman of the board of directors at Continuum Veterans Foundation and CEO at Continuum~

The appointment comes right on the tail of another successful year partnering with Hire Heroes USA, an organization dedicated to creating job opportunities for U.S. military veterans and their spouses through employment training and corporate engagement. As we detail in this post about our efforts to support veterans, last year's $50,000 CVF donation helped confirm 2,847 veterans were hired!

We look forward to eclipsing this number in the year to come and believe appointing McHale to CVF's board is the necessary first step. Please join us in welcoming him to the team!
