Continuum's PA Office Holds Successful Battery Drive

Posted August 23, 2016by Ben Barker

Earlier this month, Matt Mainhart, Technical Sales Engineer, Continuum, and Battery Giant, a local business, held a battery drive at Continuum's Cranberry Township, PA office. On August 12, members of the Cranberry Business Park and the surrounding community participated by dropping off used batteries to be properly disposed.

The battery drive was a success as 313 pounds of dead batteries were collected. The success of the event has led to discussions between Mainhart and Jim Logan, the owner of Battery Giant, to hold another drive next year.

Matt Mainhart had this to say about the success of the event.

"I am a huge fan of recycling and shopping local, so this was a no-brainer. I was involved in a hazardous waste cleanup last year with Westmoreland Cleanways, and the battery waste that people brought was astonishing. If it wasn’t for this event, hundreds and hundreds of pounds of batteries would end up polluting the landfills and water supply. I was also part of an organization called Paddle Without Pollution (recently acquired by Venture Outdoors). I have seen, and cleaned up, so much nasty garbage just irresponsibly tossed away in the surrounding ecosystems. I wanted to continue to be a part of positive change."
